Important information

Are tickets included?

The ticket to Chapel of the Bones and to CITA (Carpet Intrepretative Center) are included and will be provided by the guide. No other ticket or entrance fees are included in this tour

What is your cancellation policy?

We are cool but not that cool. The paid amount can be refunded at 100% if the customer wants to cancel up to 24 hours before the tour. If a cancellation is made less than the 24h period it is non-refundable. In case of no show / cancellation in the same day, the amount will not be refunded.

I have one (or more) infants. Can we still do the tour?

I have one (or more) infants. Can we still do the tour? There is absolutely no problem! Up to 3 years old it’s completely free and between 4 to 12 they have a 20% discount. Logistically speaking we just have to know in advance to make the necessary arrangements.

Your guides seem very cool and everything but are they qualified?

The question is quite relevant and makes sense. Our guides have academic studies and most of them are Tourism graduates with full certifications to make our tours. In addition to technical skills, they were hand picked by their charismatic personality, passion for the country and its history and excellent communication skills. We can be cool but we will never neglect or be sloppy when it comes to discipline and professionalism.

I/my relative(s) have a physical disability or walking limitation. Can we avoid rides that have extensive hiking paths?

In this especific Évora & Arraiolos FULL DAY there's a walking tour in Évora city centre which is mainly flat. The level of difficulty is EASY.

Is there a minimum and maximum number of passengers?

Yes, we have a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 8 for our regular van tours. Sometimes more than one van can go to the same destination, but our goal is to keep small groups for greater closeness and interaction with the client. In exceptional cases we may operate with a 16/18 seat minibus during high season peaks.

Is there Hotel pick-up and drop-off?

No. If Pick-up option is selected we can provide Hotel Pick-up. If not selected the meeting point is at Praça da Figueira (at 08:00, in front of D. João I statue). The drop-off is always at Marquês de Pombal Square. In exceptional cases (determined by authorities) the meeting point and the drop-off will be done in other locations.

Highlights

More information

On this tour, we propose to enter a time machine and travel a few centuries back. We propose to visit a deeper Portugal with magnificent vineyards, trigais, wettrees, olive trees and lots, lots of history. And we start way back in history since the first stop is the old city of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. Surrounded by 14th-century walls, it encompasses traces of the Roman, Visigothic, Muslim and Portuguese presence inside. In Évora history is just around any corner, in any square or alley, staircase or door and for this reason the ideal strategy is to walk through its historic center and contemplate the various monuments that make up this fantastic puzzle with more than 1000 years of history. We propose to begin the walking tour with a visit to the majestic Church of St. Francis, one of the most beautiful examples of national Gothic and with important episodes for the history of Portugal. Next door, and also part of the former Convent of San Francisco is one of the local must sees, the Chapel of Bones, a place that has a strong symbolic and artistic component. Next, stroll around the most dynamic arteries of the city, such as Praça do Giraldo and Rua 5 de Outubro, heading to the medieval heart of Évora. There you will find the Cathedral (the largest in Portugal) but also the Roman Temple, one of the oldest testimonials of the Roman presence in the Iberian Peninsula. The last stop is at the medieval town of Arraiolos, famous for the carpets, for the production of olive oil and chicken patties. We propose a visit to CITA, where you will learn more about the local carpets. There will also be local products tasting with olive oil, wine and the best chicken patties in the world. A stop at the medieval castle is also included to enjoy.
