What is your cancellation policy?

We are cool but not that cool. The paid amount can be refunded at 100% if the customer wants to cancel up to 24 hours before the tour. If a cancellation is made less than the 24h period it is non-refundable. In case of no show / cancellation in the same day, the amount will not be refunded.

I have one (or more) infants. Can we still do the tour?

There is absolutely no problem! Up to 3 years old it’s completely free and between 4 to 12 they have a 20% discount. Logistically speaking we just have to know in advance to make the necessary arrangements.

Your guides seem very cool and everything but are they qualified?

The question is quite relevant and makes sense. Our guides have academic studies and most of them are Tourism graduates with full certifications to make our tours. In addition to technical skills, they were hand-picked by their charismatic personality, passion for the country and its history and excellent communication skills. We can be cool, but we will never neglect or be sloppy when it comes to discipline and professionalism.

I/my relative(s) have a physical disability or walking limitation. Can we avoid rides that have extensive hiking paths?

On a private tou we can ajust the itinerary to avoid those hiking paths, On this private tour we can adjust the itineraries to avoid difficult paths with a high degree of incline. This adjustment may result in the impossibility of visiting some monuments.

Is there a minimum and maximum number of passengers?

On a private tour, with exclusive transport, as well as the guide, for you and your group, the minimum and maximum number of passengers may be as large as the capacity of the vehicle used, in this case the minimum will be 1 passenger and the maximum 8. For groups larger than 8, please contact us.

Is there Hotel pick-up and drop-off?

On private tours, hotel pickup and drop-off are included if the hotel is in the city of Lisbon. If you are staying in a location outside the city, please contact us.

Highlights

More information

On this tour we propose a trip back in time to medieval times and promise you the possibility to visit some castles built in the 12th century! We also assure you that these castles were property of the Knights Templar and later of the Order of Christ, responsible for the Age of Discovery! The challenge is to take you on a journey through the medieval world. The first stop is to catch a boat on the Tagus River to reach the island where the Castle of Almourol awaits us. This is the most beautiful example of medieval architecture in Portugal. The castle has incredible views, and is one of the most representative examples of 12th-century military architecture. We then continue to Tomar, a city founded by the Knights Templar and which maintains a significant number of Templar buildings in very good condition. Tomar was a land given to the Templars and it was especially important in the 15th century, when it was prominently placed in the Portuguese overseas expansion under the command of Henry the Navigator, Master of the Order of Christ, an organization that succeeded the Templars in Portugal. Also in Tomar we will visit the Church of Santa Maria do Olival, former Pantheon of all templar masters in Portugal, full of small Templar details and some legends related to the activity of these knights. Last, but certainly the most significant place, the visit to the Convent of Christ, one of the most important and magnificent monuments in Portugal, headquarters of both, Knights Templar and Knights of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. A visit that contemplates the old Templar castle, the ancient Templar church (Charola), the famous Manueline Window, the monumental main cloister, the 16th century aqueduct, one of the cisterns, and a few more details that any enthusiast of history and medieval monuments can not for any reason miss.
